Was the No Child Left Behind Act a good idea or should it be reformed or abolished?

Clinton believes the No Child Left Behind Act should be reformed. From Clinton's website: "Among the issues she has fought for and will make a priority as president are: Reforming the No Child Left Behind Act. This law represented a promise -- more resources for schools in exchange for more accountability -- and that promise has not been kept." (link)

McCain believes the No Child Left Behind Act is a good idea. Remarks by McCain on CNN Larry King Live: "The No Child Left Behind Act may have some flaws associated with it, but I still view it as a major milestone in trying to improve education in this country." (link)

Obama believes the No Child Left Behind Act should be reformed. From Obama's website: "Obama will reform NCLB, which starts by funding the law. Obama believes teachers should not be forced to spend the academic year preparing students to fill in bubbles on standardized tests." (link)

Paul believes the No Child Left Behind Act should be abolished. Remarks by Paul during the Des Moines Register Presidential Debate: "And we have No Child Left Behind. The teachers don't like it. The students don't like it. And the quality of education hasn't gone up. The cost of education has gone up... It used to be parents had control of education through local school boards.
